Most Outback Steakhouses today are under the ownership and oversight of Bloomin’ Brands. In a handful of states—California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico—regulatory and operational duties fall to Out West Restaurant Group, a partnership that helps streamline menus and service standards across the Southwest. The brand’s Canadian timeline is slightly more complex. Outback first touched down there in 1996 but closed all nine outlets in March 2009 after struggling to adjust to the market.
