Outback Steakhouse Menus

The Outback Steakhouse menu reads like a love letter to satisfying, no-nonsense dining: think robust hand-cut steaks, expertly grilled seafood, and starters served with a colorful Australian twist, like that sizzling star of the show—the Bloomin’ Onion®. Loyal guests will spot beloved classics sitting comfortably alongside limited-time seasonal creations, ensuring that whether today’s mood leans toward a ribeye with a smoky crust, a salad bursting with color and crunch, or a Triple-Chocolate Avalanche to finish, the choice will always feel like a small victory.

Outback Steakhouse is an American go-to spot that pairs laid-back family dining with a dash of Aussie flair, drawing crowds of meat lovers and casual diners alike. While the signature juicy steaks grab the spotlight, the menu goes beyond with perfectly grilled chicken, succulent seafood, stacked burgers, filling pasta, and plenty of dishes that nod to the Outback — think Bloomin’ Onion and signature pancakes. Everything began in Tampa, Florida, when the original four — Bob, Trudy, Tim, and Chris — turned a vision of relaxed dining into reality on March 15, 1988. Today, the concept sizzles in more than 1,000 restaurants from the sunbelt to the snowy north, with Outback in vacation hubs across South America and Asia, and an Outback homecoming to Australia, where the appeal is unmistakably local.

Most Outback Steakhouses today are under the ownership and oversight of Bloomin’ Brands. In a handful of states—California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico—regulatory and operational duties fall to Out West Restaurant Group, a partnership that helps streamline menus and service standards across the Southwest. The brand’s Canadian timeline is slightly more complex. Outback first touched down there in 1996 but closed all nine outlets in March 2009 after struggling to adjust to the market. By the summer of that same year, the chain returned, opening a solitary spot in the tourist corridor of Niagara Falls, Ontario. That lone store was soon joined by a second, and as of today, those Ontario outlets represent the sole surviving Outback locations anywhere in Canada.

Outback Steakhouse FAQ

Outback Steakhouse FAQs

Everything you need to know about dining at Outback

Well, depends what you’re craving. They’ve got the usual—baked potato, fries, rice. But honestly, a lot of people go for the mac & cheese or the loaded mash if they want something heavy. If you’re trying to be “good,” you can swap in veggies or a salad. I’ve even seen folks double up on fries instead of picking something else.

Yeah, they do. It’s not a seafood place, but you’ll find shrimp (grilled or coconut), salmon, and even lobster tails if you’re in the mood. A bunch of people order steak with shrimp on the side—kind of a surf-and-turf thing. Personally, I think the shrimp travels better than the fries when you do takeout.

Pretty much, yeah. You can swap sides, ask for no seasoning, tell them medium-rare instead of medium—stuff like that. If you don’t want butter or you need gluten-free, just say it. I’ve done it a few times, and they’ve never made a fuss about it.

Outback has quite a few. You’ll see the Center-Cut Sirloin, the Filet Mignon, and bigger cuts like the Ribeye and Porterhouse. They also do Prime Rib, which is slow roasted. Some folks go for the filet because it’s tender, while others want that ribeye for the flavor.

Yes, but it’s not a huge list. Outback does have a gluten-free menu (they’ll bring it if you ask), which covers steaks, seafood, chicken, and some sides. If you’re vegetarian, you’ll mostly be looking at salads, baked potatoes, fries, or seasonal veggies. It’s best to tell the server— they’ll usually point you to what works.

No surprise here—it’s the Bloomin’ Onion®. If you’ve ever been, you’ve probably seen one at a table nearby. It’s that giant onion, fried golden, and served with a dip. Pretty much their claim to fame.

I’ve seen plenty of folks celebrate birthdays at Outback. It’s not high-end dining, but it works. The steaks are filling, the vibe is casual, and nobody feels out of place bringing kids along. Plus, you don’t spend a fortune, which is nice when you’re treating a group.

Yep. It’s called the Joey Menu. You’ll find smaller plates—mac & cheese, grilled chicken, chicken fingers, burgers, even a little steak. They come with a drink and a side. Pretty handy if you’re bringing kids along and don’t want them stuck picking at fries off your plate.

Yeah, for sure. I’ve done takeout a few times myself. You can call ahead, order on their site, or just use one of the apps—DoorDash, Uber Eats, those ones. The steaks actually hold up okay in the box, fries not always crispy but still good enough. It’s basically the same food you’d get at the table, just packed up.

They do, but it depends. Outback runs this thing called Dine Rewards—eat a few times and you get a discount the next visit. They also push seasonal specials, like the steak-and-lobster deal around summer. My buddy’s a veteran and he gets a discount, so military, first responders, teachers—most places honor that. Best way is just ask when you’re there, since it can change.
